Location

Akureyri Backpackers is located right  in the heart  of central downtown Akureyri. With beautiful little coffee shops,  bars and restaurant all within walking distance, we feel that this is a what makes the location perfect .   The swimming pool is just a minute away, where you can swim or just chill out in the hot tubs. Also why not visit the world‘s most northerly botanical garden.

Dorms & Private rooms

Akureyri Backpackers hostel offers 23 dorms and private rooms on Hafnarstræti 98, downtown Akureyri for tired travelers. There are sixteen 4-8 person dorms and seven private rooms for 2 persons. All in all there are 102 beds on three floors.  

Bathroom & Shower facilities

All the dorms at the hostel have shared bathroom facilities. Bathrooms are located in the center of each floor allowing an easy access for all rooms. 

Warm and nice showers are accessible 24-hours a day in the basement where you can also enjoy our relaxing sauna.

Hang out places

On the first floor you can sit down and relax with cup of coffee or perhaps a glass of wine.  For more fun you can have another drink or check out the bars in the neighborhood, we recommend the „Gotubar“ next door. You can also stay with us, read a book, surf the internet or ask us for tips, advice and ideas for great adventures that can be done in the area.

Cooking facilities

If you prefer to do your own cooking your are more than welcome to use our kitchen facilities on the lower first floor.  For those choosing the professionals chefs we can recommend some exelent  places in the hood.

Security lockers

Security lockers, located on the 2nd and 3rd floor are available for guests to use free of charge. Bring your own lock or get one at our place for a small amount. On the lower first floor we also have a luggage room where you are welcome to store your valuables anytime you like.
